OUR MISSION
The mission of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Clinics of Sacramento is to providing leading hyperbaric oxygen therapies to patients in need; support and provide neuro-rehabilitation therapies for brain injured children and adults; provide a forum for leading research for these patients; and to support brain injured children’s advocacy needs.
GOALS OF THE CLINIC
- World Class Care: The Clinic seeks to provide leading care for brain injured patients and patients requiring other mainstream medical applications of Hyperbaric Oxygen.
- Treatment: The Clinic actively supports charities and fund raising efforts for subsidizing HBOT for children who meet criteria for financial hardship.
- Education: The Clinic seek to disseminate information on HBOT and hold educational conferences for professionals and layperson's, especially parents.
- Research: The Institute will train professionals in the application of HBOT and other therapies, concentrating again on brain and spinal cord injury.
- World Class Care: Sacramento Hyperbarics is aggressively seeking out the best physician advisors from a variety of related fields as well as nutritional and movement therapies that specifically support the neurological gains obtained through HBOT.
- Reimbursement: Sacramento Hyperbarics has advocated legislation in California and in Washington, DC requiring all third party payers adhere to Federal Law requiring HBOT reimbursement for brain injured children under the Medicaid act, paragraph 5.
Many insurance companies recognize HBOT as a mainstream medical application for a variety of conditions and reimburse for them; however, they generally refuse to reimburse for neurological applications.
- Availability: Sacramento Hyperbarics hopes to enable many more of the over 700 hyperbaric oxygen clinics to provide HBOT for neurological conditions. Today, only a dozen or so clinics provide HBOT for brain injuries.
The State of Florida is a good example of lack of availability: The State of Florida professes to comply with Federal Medicaid laws for reimbursing for HBOT for brain injuries when prescribed by a physician - but, will only reimburse for hospital based HBOT. Unfortunately, Florida hospitals do not provide HBOT for chronic brain injuries.
